Breuer chrome or brass frames are two distinct finishes that define Marcel Breuer’s classic 1928 Cesca chair design. Chrome’s clean, reflective look works well in modern or industrial spaces, and brass has a warmer, vintage tone that complements more traditional interiors.

Either option comes on the same tubular steel frame inspired by bicycle construction and a cantilever base that eases slightly under weight for greater comfort and durability. Seats and Stools carries both replacement frames and complete chairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Breuer chrome and brass frames?

Breuer chrome frames have a bright finish that stays consistent over time. Brass frames start with a golden tone, but develop a darker patina as they age. Both use the same strong, durable tubular steel core.

Are Breuer chairs available with both chrome and brass frames?

Yes, we stock complete Cesca chairs with either chrome or brass Breuer chair frames. Replacement bases can also be purchased separately. That way, you can match existing pieces or create a mix of different metals.

Are Breuer brass frames solid brass or just plated?

Most brass frames use brass-plated tubular steel construction, so you get a lightweight and affordable frame in a warm color with a patina effect.

How do I clean and protect Breuer chrome or brass frames?

Wipe chrome finishes with a damp microfiber cloth, and be sure to dry immediately. For brass finishes, use a gentle brass cleaner or Chrome bumper cleaner from a auto supply store.

Frames

The chrome frame looks as expected and will replace very old one which had rust spots breaking through. Ordered just one because I was was worried about ease of doing the replacement. An earlier reviewer had told of his having a problem with the old screws holes in the seats and backs matching with the the new frames. It wasn’t a problem for me as the frames matched perfectly with the old holes. Have now ordered 2 more.

Breuer Chrome Counter Stool Frames

I recently purchased 4 chrome counter stool frames to convert my previously purchased Breuer kitchen chairs to counter height for a newly installed quartz kitchen counter. I loved the style and comfort of the original chairs and was pleased Seats and Stools sold the counter frames. Alan was not only helpful over the phone but provided excellent service with delivery within 5 days of being shipped. Frames were of excellent quality and the backs and seats previously purchased were easy to install. Seats and Stools is top notch company and highly recommend them.

Breuer chrome chair frame

Excellent customer service, received in time frame quoted. have not been able to install at my dad's because of Covid-19. I expect it will go fine with no issues.

Great service

I highly recommend Seats and Stools. We needed to replace a frame for one of our four Breuer chairs. Customer Service answered my husband's questions about how the screw holes in the new frame would line up with the seat we had. The order came promptly with expert secure packaging. The instructions were clear. And we didn't need to buy 4 new chairs!

Continue to Use the Chairs You Have Used for Years!!!!

Did a remodel recently - looked and looked locally and online for new 24" counter stools. Every style looked so heavy and hard to move 4 legs on wood floors. SEATS and STOOLS popped up and presented a solution. Ordered two first to see the fit in the eating area - today the third arrived. You will love keeping the front and back that have served your well for years.

Very satisfied

Product meets the specs and arrived as promised.
Great experience.

New Frames Let Me Keep the Look

I was so pleased to find 24" frames for the Breuer chairs I've had for over 30 years. Kitchen remodel brought on the need - shopped and shopped but found nothing I like more.
